The property was being converted into a hotel, with the basement section used for storage, plant rooms and accommodation.
Ceiling height was restricted, so a conventional Type C system would create too high a build-up and would lead to restricted head room. Therefore a combined waterproofing design was specified. On the walls a Type C, Delta drainage membrane was used, draining to a perimeter channel, then through
recessed pipework to the sump chamber.
The concrete floor was treated using the Köster VAPlite system. This was chosen because it provides a BBA approved negative side waterproofing, a quantifiable, fully bonded vapour barrier, and a high strength self-levelling screed, all within a 10mm build-up.
